Making Covers
We are making covers for Martindale's unprotected woodwork. We have completed the cover for the Mediterranean steps and are working on the covers for the wheelhouse. The covers for the sides of the wheelhouse are rectangles, but the rope lockers at the front of the wheelhouse are not so simple with angles, holes and slopes.
Storm Damage
In April 2015 the boom came off the funnel, allowing water to collect in the awning, breaking some of the timber supports, bending staunchions and, most seriously, cracking the mizzen mast. We estimate there would have been close to 1 cu metre (1 tonne) of water in the awning. Although the awning fabric was severely stretched by the water it almost regained its original shape with only a few small signs of its ordeal.

Saloon Fit-out
In 2012 the saloon was a shell. Gradually the cupboards, drawers and seats were added. Wiring was run for lights, all the woodwork was varnished and in late 2014 the upholstery was complete. We laid the carpet in 2016 for the Sydney Wooden Boat Festival.
